What Amenities Are Buyers Looking For This Fall?
Isn’t it fun watching home renovation shows on television? We can see the thought process behind the design. We can see just how expensive some finishes are and what options are just as nice but without the hefty price tag. These shows also show us what are some of the latest trends regarding home amenities.
Here are some of the most sought after amenities buyers are looking for as we head into autumn.
Suburbia
In the past, people would flock to the big city because there’s so much to do within walking distance. You could go to any bar or club and know it’ll be packed with people having fun! Thanks to COVID, that’s not the case anymore. In HomeLight’s Q3 survey, 35% of folks are packing up and moving to areas that are less crowded but they still have access to shops, entertainment and the like.
Outdoor Space for Relaxing and Entertaining
After spending months cooped up inside their homes, people (especially those who lived in an apartment) desire outdoor living spaces and pools. These amenities give people the chance to get some exercise in, relax in the sun, and just get a bit of fresh air. Of course, the appeal of these amenities never go out of style, but they are in high demand due to the virus.
Home Offices
Even though the school year has already begun, millions of students have had to do online learning from their homes. Not only are students doing online learning, many businesses are allowing their employees to work from home, too. While this may seem like a dream come true for some, the majority of folks are feeling the pressure, especially if they are working in a communal area, like the dining room or living room.
In the past, buyers have adored the open floor plan because it helps the family feel connected and makes entertaining easier. However, when you’re trying to work on an important project for school or you need to get the year-end report back to your boss ASAP… Working in a home with an open floor plan is nearly impossible.
That’s why 7% of agents say their clients want to have multiple office spaces. Work and learning can get done, distraction free simply by closing the door!
Access to Nature
Buyers want outdoor living spaces, but they also want to have access to places where they can enjoy nature more. This means they’re looking for homes closer to parks, hiking trails, bodies of water, and the like. By having access to nature, it can serve as a means of getting exercise and to breath in fresh air, it can also help clear the mind and find some peace when things start to feel a little (or a lot) overwhelming.
Large Windows
Buyers have always wanted a house with plenty of windows to allow natural light to flow in, and that is definitely true now, as well. Large windows gives buyers all that natural light, but it also helps with air circulation, which is a plus for when the air feels stagnant.
Large windows also give buyers a great view of the outdoors. This is a huge draw for buyers who want to have a house with a view. Just imagine looking out of your dining room while sipping your coffee and admiring the leaves as they change colors or feeling at peace when the snow comes in the winter!
